37. Suggest Your Congregation Offer Tithes

If you regularly attend services at church, synagogue, or other religious organization, you might suggest to the congregation that everyone donate part of their regular offerings or tithe to a local organization that aids the homeless. Talk to religious officials about the idea; suggest that the congregation "adopt" a local charity and make regular donations of time, money, or supplies. Part of the Sunday collection or of the Yom Kippur appeal can be given to the "adopted" charity.
