Here are some steps that volunteers in our shelter program have taken to educate others:

Spoke at a religious service and at a Board of Trustees' meeting about their experiences working with the homeless.

Duplicated cogent articles about homelessness from newspapers and magazines, and made them available on a table at the reception following religious services.

Brought the subject of homelessness and poverty into the curriculum of our religious school.

Asked the local principals to include the subject in the public school curriculum.

Asked the presidents of the local service organizations (Kiwanis, Rotary, Soroptomists, etc.) to schedule a program on the homeless.
