27. Organize A Thrift Shop

A thrift shop where second-hand items such as used clothing, shoes, toys, books, and/or appliances are sold is a good way to get your religious institution--and others in your community--involved in helping the poor and homeless.

Donations of merchandise are made by the congregation and other members of the community (usually through drives and/or by having a collection bin at the shop). Parishioners volunteer their services to operate the shop.
