25. Take Homeless Children On Trips
"Children First" was founded by the
Interfaith Council for the Homeless of Union County
, New Jersey to enhance homeless children's self-esteem through enrichment projects--individually and with their families through workshops and field trips.
On one field trip they visited the Morris Museum in Morristown (NJ), where youngsters and their parents viewed sunspots through a telescope and came face-to-face with a 12-foot boa constrictor. One of the goals is to teach parents how to participate in stimulating experiences with their children--in art and cooking workshops, puppetmaking, and print-making.
